July 2010
Initial Letter:
As a fellow artist, I am aware of the need to reach a larger market and increase sales. I would like
for you to consider participating in a project with me that could do just that.
I am creating a book, titled 25 Alabama Artists to Collect/2011, that will help artists cross-promote
each other’s work. This will be a high quality book with 8 pages of artwork, a photo and short
biography for each participant. Each artist will be required to purchase a minimum of 40 books at
cost, which can then be given as gifts for clients, sold at shows and festivals, distributed through
galleries, museums and bookstores, or however each artist feels the book will best serve as a
promotional tool.
Printing will be done this fall by American Printing Company (www.americanprintingco.net) in
Birmingham, which prints at the highest standard and has printed many art related books. The size
of the book will be 8.75” x 8.75” square with a soft cover and inside pages will be printed on 10lb
coated paper in 4-color process on a Heidelberg commercial press. (See samples attached).
I am extending this invitation to a select number of reputable Alabama artists but only 25 can be
included in the book. Since there is a tight production time line, the first 25 who reserve their spot
with submission of $800 (to cover the cost of 40 books) will be chosen for inclusion. This investment
can easily be recouped by selling only half of the books at a retail price of $40 each. Being
scheduled to print in October, books will be available for unique holiday gifts.
If you would like to be a part of this project, please mail the payment of $800 to cover the cost of 40
books to me as soon as possible. The deadline to be included is August 15th. If you send in your
payment but are not one of the top 25, your money will be refunded.
As soon as your payment is received, you will be sent the required specs for your images and bio
information. If you have any questions, please contact me at 205-427-5299 or mbrook21@aol.com.
And if you would like to see a sample book in person, contact me to schedule a visit to my studio in
Homewood/Birmingham.
This is an exciting project and I hope you decide to be part of it!
