About Thomas Andrew

Thomas Andrew is a self-taught American artist whose work has found its way into thousands of homes and private collections across the United States. Since picking up a paintbrush in 2004, he has built a successful full-time career creating artwork that captures beauty, emotion, and the stories hidden in everyday life.
Although Thomas paints a wide variety of subjects—including landscapes, wildlife, angels, florals, and contemporary pieces—he is perhaps best known for his distinctive Reflections series. These imaginative paintings feature subjects wearing sunglasses that reflect meaningful scenes, inviting viewers to ask a simple question: What do you see in your reflection?
Before becoming an artist, Thomas owned and operated a small business. When that business was sold, he decided to pursue a lifelong dream of making a living through art. What began as an uncertain leap of faith grew into a career spanning more than two decades, with over 10,000 original paintings finding homes with collectors throughout the country.
Thomas believes that art should do more than decorate a wall—it should create a feeling, spark a memory, or inspire a conversation. Whether painting a peaceful landscape, a beloved pet, or a deeply personal commission, his goal is always the same: to create artwork that connects with people on an emotional level.
His passion for creativity extends beyond his own artwork. Through his Birmingham, Alabama studio, Thomas teaches workshops for adults and is the founder of Young Creators, an innovative program designed to help young people develop creativity, confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills through hands-on creative projects. Rather than simply teaching art techniques, Young Creators encourages children to think imaginatively, embrace challenges, and become lifelong creators.
Thomas is also the author of 20 Essential Tips for Becoming a Professional Artist, where he shares practical advice drawn from his own journey of building a successful career as a self-taught artist.
Today, Thomas continues to create new collections, travel for exhibitions, accept commissioned work, and welcome visitors to his studio. His hope is simple: that every painting leaves someone feeling inspired, encouraged, and reminded that there is beauty all around us—if we’re willing to look for it.
